Hi can anyone help please are there any decent apps I can track my runs on my phone please? I don't have a fit bit or anything yet but I use my phone. Can't find 1 that actually works though. I'm thinking it may be my GPS as I'm off road most of the time and live in the back of beyond. But there are so many I'm stuck. Thanks x
Which running app?: Hi can anyone help please... - Couch to 5K
Which running app?
Hi I like using Endomundo, it's great for tracking my runs as well as my biking. But I does need a GPS signal sadly but it's free . And you can upgrade if you want.
I use Strava it’s very good if you can get signal enough to use it. X
Strava, especially if you want to share your runs with others and get virtual pats on the back. We do that here too of course.
I have every single aspect of Strava set to private! I live in fear of a breach of the Strava cloud, haha. The idea of strangers seeing my sad strange sweaty red post-run face is horrifying.
It's so funny; if you go on the C25K subreddit on Reddit, nearly every post is a triumphant selfie. Brave!
I use an older free app for my walks, cycle runs and running, so far it has been fairly accurate, I would say about 95% correct. it is :- "Run-log.com" it does have GPS and takes 12.67MB on my smartphone which is 2012 vintage. This app has duration, distance and lap distance in kilometres, pace, average pace and average lap pace, lap duration, lap distance, burned calories, speed and average speed, pretty reasonable considering that it is a free app which I downloaded from the Android Play Store.
Try Pacer and Wikiloc. You may prefer one or other but I tend to use both, Pacer for the fitness and health aspect, Wikiloc for longer walks an hikes so I can view where I've been on google earth.
I use Strava and really like it. (I also use it for hiking and mountain biking.)
I always thought that sort of thing was for "real" athletic types, not people like me...than I got very very lost on a long walk in the woods one day, and decided to look for an app that was tracking my route that I might use in an emergency to backtrack. And here I am. (Note: in NO WAY am I suggesting that is a good or reliable idea. It is potentially dangerous to lean on an app as backup to find yourself in the woods! I am just telling you what I did after a panicky couple of hours.)
There are also apps like Runtastic, Endomondo, and Runkeeper? Do you have an Android? Maybe Google Fit.
I like Runkeeper. It's very simple and will talk to you if you want it to. Makes a little map and tracks most stuff 😀
Used Strava and Endomondo in the past but currently using Nike+
Works well and has challenges against friends e.t.c
I currently use map my run. Gives me a break down of everything I need to see how I run each km.
I use runtastic, basic app is free but you can upgrade for more featues
