App music

I'm having to start again after badly spraining my ankle last autumn. But my question is this. I used an ipod previously which had music included but now I've downloaded the app onto my phone. It asks me to play a playlist, but I don't have one on my phone! Is there a way of using music from the app as it's a bit boring just listening to myself panting away!

If you don’t mind adverts every half an hour, download and use the free version of Spotify. There are even set playlists for runners, or you can add your own favourites to the library.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

The guide includes links to the app and the podcast version of the plan, which has music.

Enjoy your journey.

Try Spotify, congratulations on restarting C25K after your injury, take all the runs slowly, good luck and I hope you don't have any more injuries.

Thank you for the advice. Yes I was nervous about starting again, I graduated 3 years ago but have stopped and started a few times since. I'm going to start from the beginning and see how it goes.

I'm not bothered what the music is but need a distraction! Should have mentioned that my phone is an old Samsung Galaxy.

The App allows you to play your own music, but if you download the podcast form of C25K onto your phone, music is included. The good thing about the provided music is that the beat fits with running and walking intervals. However by the time I got to W7 I was more than ready to play some music of my own choice! 😄

You could also use the C25K App with radio 4 podcasts using the bbc Sounds App - the choice is enormous & free. 😄

Thanks. I'm taking it that the difference is between the app and the podcast.

Thanks all for advice.

I use the app and have made a playlist on Spotify of all the songs that make me want to dance, helps spur me in when I’m flagging 😄

Yes, that’s right. The podcast gives you everything, the App allows you to choose your own listening preferences. 😄

Or you could listen to the C25K podcasts on your phone. Find the podcast player app and subscribe to NHS Choices Couch to 5K.
