I am sat here in total disbelief and amazement at having completed 2 laps of 8 min runs........
5 weeks ago....I cudnt run for even 1 min without being out of breath and in total agony......and whilst my speed is still at snail/tortoiseππ’ pace.....I cannot get my head around how my stamina has built up over the last 5 weeks....by simply sticking to the C25K programme!!!πββοΈ Run, rest, run, rest.
So, for all those just starting out or having challenging runs.....if a complete non-runner like me (who has never ever enjoyed or willingly done any sport or exercise...EVER!!!) can get this far and is motivated to keep going.....then anyone can do it!!!!π€
8 straight mins.....think I need to lie down for a bit, as I'm in shock....lol!!!!πππ
Yay well done! I remember being amazed that I could run 8 mins and nothing took the smile off my face all day. C25k amazes me. I struggled with the 1 min runs in April and managed to run for 28 mins on Fri. Have a great day happy running and keep smiling. X
Just remember slow is the key to success. The 20min run defo helped me to find my comfortable pace and you will feel amazing once you've completed your 20mim. X
I'm proof that if you trust the programme and ignore all the pesky gremlins (self-doubt, low confidence etc).....no matter what anyone says, you will definitely get there!
I've always been more of a late night owl than an early bird...but now, I wake up early simply because I'm excited to get running....lol!!!!
Remember to go slow and steady......you've totally got this!!!πͺπππ
Pace comes later if you want it... itβs all about hitting that time right now and if you can nail 8 minutes longer than the 1 you struggled with a month ago, youβre about 10 times fitter already.
Thank you!!! I feel much more positive nowadays......as I know I'm doing something positive to get fitter instead of simply worrying about it constantly all the time.
Well actually managed my first run of week 5 found it difficult but completed it , I do it on the treadmill so Iβm sure when I have the nerve to go out running I will find it really difficult
Running outside is all in the head.....if you think about it, no one has the time to look at you because you're running.....you're there for an instant and gone in a flash!!!
I look like a hippo when I run.....but on the few occasions I've made eye contact with fellow-runners going the opposite direction, all they see is another runner.....and don't see anything else.
I still have to be brave enough to run in a shorts/vests combo......so we all have our own gremlins and demons to deal with......worth remembering they're all only IN our heads.
Well done on completing W5R1....you'll be just fine for W5R2!!!
