I was dreading this run. How can an extra 5 mins be so hard mentally.... I’ve now run 5 mins lots of times... it must be possible. Just because it comes after 20 mins of running it’s still do-able....
I knew today was the day, I’d had an extra rest day. Woke up and gave myself a talking to “you can do it... and what’s the worst if not?”
Walked upstairs my knee hurt, had breakfast, read a book while waiting for it to settle, decided I needed to read the last half hour of the book before going out... (prevaricating? Me???)
Eventually got into gear and went out - and it felt good! I got into a rhythm - me and the kaiser chiefs (I can do it came on just as I was starting to flag), the last five minutes felt hard... but I realised I was going for a record - not just for time running but also total distance covered so I must have been going at a decent pace.
Thoroughly relieved to have Sarah congratulate me on the 25 minutes... tried to keep a decent pace on the cool down walk and at the end of five mins went to stop the tracking on my Fitbit....
looking forward to seeing my pace and distance.... and to having broken a few pb’s. Only to discover the battery had died somewhere on the way around....
Next time I prevaricate I need to remember to charge the battery!
Perhaps it’s a good thing I get to do this run again in week 7... at least next time I know I can do it - and I won’t forget to charge my watch!
