Sore knee

Hi I am new to Couch 2 5k. I have completed Wk 1 and completed Wk2 run 1, but I started to suffer pain in my left knee, I had previously had a ruptured Achilles Tendon on this leg. I am trying to rest it and also trying to find ASIC running shoes as I run on the roads. I would like to know if anyone could offer any advice please.

Hi Redmum64, Welcome to C25k and all the very best for your running journey. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️ Sorry that I can not offer a great deal of advice, but when I purchased proper running shoes following gait analysis at a running shop, my knee pain stopped! 😊 The shoes have so much more cushioning under foot. I don't know what ASIC shoes are.

I'll try and add the must read post for C25k by our mentor: healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

There is so much of help in he post. If I remember correctly also info on running shoes.

This forum is full of so much encouragement and information. I have so enjoyed reading folk's running stories, also posting and replying to others. I hope that you enjoy iy and find it helpful too.

Thank you for your reply. I am resting my knee and plan to go for gait assessment when I can. Hope my new ASIC shoes help too. I love Couch 2 5K and am missing it already.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

Everybody suffers minor pains when starting an unfamiliar exercise regime, but if it persists get it checked out.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

If you are going to buy running shoes I would recommend having a gait analysis done, rather just buying based on brand colour or style. Do you know whether you over or under pronate? A gait analysis will tell you.

Enjoy your journey.

Thank you. I am intending to go and have a gait assessment soon before I lose my momentum.
