Sore + achy

I’ve just completed week 1 run 1 yesterday (I’m quite unfit too) and my legs are aching and quite sore today. Not sure what to do to remedy this - any advice?

Give them a good stretch, it is normal if you haven’t been active. The first run of the program is always the hardest and gives you actual perspective of your fitness, it surprised me.

Keep going, keep to the program and remember to go slow

Take an extra rest day if you feel you need it. Make sure you are well hydrated. Your muscles really need plenty of fluids to operate well.

As mentioned stretching can help a lot. This is very new for those muscles so you are likely to feel it.

Make sure you're not pushing yourself too hard on your runs, remember you're aiming for a pace at which you can just about still talk. If you're pushing yourself to go too fast you're going to hurt more 👍

Well done. A few aches and pains are normal. Stay on top of hydration, that makes a huge difference. Enjoy run 2

Two things that really helped me were slowing down a little (“Embrace your inner snail”, as they say around here 😄) and running on grass or hardcore rather than tarmac or paving. You can do this ! Enjoy your journey x
