Week 9 run 1 which is a 30 minute run. I completed this yesterday and was pleased with it, I covered a little over 4.5k. Today both hips are a tad sore. Any suggestions?

Bad posture, wrong footwear, are you warming up and cooling down properly?

If it continues for a week or two you might want to get it checked by your doctor.

Are you following the advice in the guide to the plan in respect of minimising impact?

What are your shoes like?

I have ASICS trainers. I will reread the plan to check.

Did you have a gait analysis before buying them?

No I didn’t. Maybe I ought to do this. This is the first problem I have had since starting the programme.

The more you run the more important it becomes to have footwear that suits your gait. Your shoes may not be causing the problem, but without a gait analysis, buying shoes is pot luck.

Are you stretching after EVERY run. Just to add to the advice already given .

Maybe I have got a little complacent and not stretched thoroughly. I do stretch after each and every but will pay heed.

Maybe have an extra rest day before the next one, you don't want an injury now! 🤞🏻

I find hip rotations after every run useful and lots of figure 4 stretching.

Will give that a go

While doing C25K I had hip pain regularly, however now I’m doing my consolidation runs I have stopped getting hip pain. I always do my stretches after a run. Happy running!

Thanks for this hopefully mine will settle too

I've had hip issues over the last two months, started one side then the other then both at the same time... I bought a compression wrap on Amazon (£12.99) which has been fantastic.

The majority of what I'd say has been covered already, stretching & rest days.... but I also do strength training on my hips on my rest day & it has worked wonders for me.

Hope you get sorted sooner rather than later.
