Have not been running this week for various reasons. Woke up this morning with a very sore knee and very uncomfortable walking down the stairs, also clicks going down stairs. At work but managed to get a hold of ice pack and trying to get an appointment with physio. any ideas to what this is? looks like I am going to be on the IC

There could be many things, most of them harmless but do check it out because harm is just a click away from harmless. I didn't check it, ran regardless, and my knee as well as my credit card puffed up to an uncomfortable level. Physios need to make a living somehow and guys like me help them put deposits on their new cars
Have you checked you shoes and done gait analysis? These are the basics that help keep physios away. I didn't at the time so my knee ended up looking like some weird fruit.
Hi thanks for your quick response. I had gait analysis done when I started running in May and got the shoes recommended. Although I have only been running since the end of may and usually do about 12 miles a week I was wondering if I need to get it checked again as I only walked on the treadmill in run 4 it when getting it done. Too self conscious at the time to run 😏
It's always best to be safe. Go and see a physio, they will figure it out and will probably give you a set of exercises that will help improve your condition. They did to me, and it works, both my stamina and my knees/ankles feel more solid and resistant.
Good luck & keep us posted!
My hubs is going through this at the moment with his knee. First advice from gp is anti inflammatories like ibuprofen with complete rest. If no improvement then physio. If still no improvement referral to clinic for mri scan to check internal knee. We are awaiting mri at the moment for his knee and running is physically out. Take care of yourself and I hope it speedily resolves.
Thank you. I have just moved from Aberdeenshire to Ayrshire and not registered with a doctor yet so can't go and see one. Need to register tomorrow in case it comes to that 🙄
Might be worth popping into one of your local chemists in the meantime, they can be pretty good at advising you for some stuff in the absence of a GP. Do def try and get yourself registered ASAP though x
Just back from physio might have a slight touch of arthritis. Swelling and stiffness have to ice, anti inflamatories and exercises. Back on Monday night.
