Where are/were you running? Whatโ€™s your target for the day?

Iโ€™m at Albert ParkRun in Middlesbrough; my usual! Pacersโ€™ week so going for a PB (currently 31:57). Ultimately want sub 30. Going to not beat myself up about it if I donโ€™t get one!

Then greasy spoon with my colleagues/ ParkRun buddies for breakfast!

EDIT: PB YAY 31:33! I reckon if my ParkRun was 5k and not 5.2k Iโ€™d be quite close to a sub 30 now ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿฝ

Hastings with my son. He wants to officially PB after I lost his barcode on the way round last time (bad mum!). We run/walk it - 2mins of each is the plan but it's absolutely sweltering here already so we'll see how we go!

Have fun everyone :-)

Thanks it was very hot! We took it very easy so no PB for him today but still enjoyable :-)

Iโ€™m in two minds. Iโ€™ve done PR since W2 to include my R3โ€™s but Iโ€™m on W7 now and really enjoy them - just walking and jogging to the finish after completing the run. Even with the walk breaks I have come in just under 40 min. They have been great for confidence. This morning looks to be the best bet for cool weather this weekend.

So, the issue is, I am nursing along a few aches/niggles in my left hip/thigh/hamstring/knee (depending on the day). Nothing has got worse with the two runs this week, because Iโ€™ve been mega-careful, but the niggles have moved about in the same area of my body so I know I am at my limit for my legs.

I could go, stay at the back, and not finish - but I donโ€™t completely trust the competitor in me. Iโ€™m toying with the idea of going without my barcode, or I have the option of splitting away from the main group and going a different route, after running the first lap with everyone else.

I think Iโ€™ve decided to go. I am pretty sure I can be strong enough to quit when I should, if I go without my barcode.

Good luck! Ibuprofen now Iโ€™d say! Let me know how you do! I did exactly the same as you - run 3 in ParkRun since week 2!

Thanks Tasha! Yeah good point! Although I use ibuprofen with discretion because I donโ€™t want to mask a soft-tissue problem, and some inflammation is wanted to repair muscles. But for my arthritis, it really helps to keep inflammation and pain down in my damaged joints, and that reduces unhealthy compensatory movement patterns - itโ€™s all about timing for me! Enjoy the run today!

Yay! The plan worked - glad I didnโ€™t take my barcode! Legs feel ok, the longer walk to the finish did them good. Week 8 starts Tuesday so 2 repair days and I should be set for 28 minutes by then. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Ah. I edited after youโ€™d put that. My legs are seizing up! Not linked at all. Just my current thoughts.

Hi Tasha, Croydon Parkrun is my local venue. Got round in about 34 minutes so Iโ€™m fine with that. ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘

Iโ€™m off to a mateโ€™s barbecue for the afternoon. ๐Ÿ”๐ŸŸ๐Ÿป Life could be worse ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

Did my first Park Run whilst away for the weekend in Bristol - it was brilliant! Still only W9R2 for me but did it in 37 minutes. Will definitely go to my local Park Run.

Well done on your PB!

Dalby Forest Parkrun near Pickering. I used to go roller skating in Albert Park in Middlesbrough as we had a shop on Linthorpe Rd. Good times. Not such good times in the Parkrun .... I too am an old girl at the back but love it. D

Oooh I was due to take my class roller skating there this week but they were so naughty we had to cancel ๐Ÿ˜‚ School in walking distance. Nice to hear from a local! Bet your ParkRun is stunning!

It is gorgoeus but hilly......they are mostly serious runners that do it so I feel a bit rubbish taking so long but I will keep on with it. Blimey is the rink still there...it was the 1960s I used to go. !!

Tasha99
Tasha99Graduate in reply to Debell

It certainly is! ParkRun starts on the path next to it that goes up to the fountain!

I have just googled Albert Parkrun results and my dreadful time here is much better at yours and without hills and off road running ! I may have to travel down memory lane and come over sometime ... I loved the Museum too. ๐Ÿฆ

I went to Montrose, second time. Last week was W8R1, today was W8R2 because I had issues with knees and stuff and needed a rest through the week. So my target was just to run for 28 minutes: in the end I ran 30, walked 6 and ran again to the finish. 39'13" is a PB for me but then it was only my second parkrun so a 50/50 chance of it being the quicker of the two :) Main think was I felt comfortable again, after having an unfinished attempt on Thursday which had hit my confidence a bit.
