Feeling scared and excited!

Hi all. Tonight I am going to start the programme. I am extremely overweight so a bit scared but I really want to do this!

My wonderful partner is a marathon runner! He is very supportive of this new venture I want to do.

Any tips on the first steps would be much appreciated. Thanks you ๐Ÿ˜Š

I very much doubt you are more overweight than me. Being overweight is the ONLY thing I would win a gold Olympic medal in.

Yet I am part way through week 5. Yesterday I ran 2 x 8 minute runs. When you start jogging tonight you will never believe that you will be able to do that. But you will.

The best piece of advice I ever had was go slow and, when you think you can't go any slower, go even slower!

Don't give up. Don't give in. And even when you're brain is screaming at you that you "don't want to go out tonight" go out anyway. Make it non-optional. You will be SO chuffed with what you are able to achieve.

Go for it. I will be cheering you on.

Wanting to do this is what will get you through it.

Take the runs slowly - although they are really short in the first weeks, they are definitely not sprints.

Most of all, donโ€™t give up if it gets hard - shout out on here and many people will support you.

Enjoy your first run!

Take it slowww I am now at the start of week 9 and never in a million years did I think I'd get this far. Even on the days I failed this community brings you back and make a you want to do it.

Getting out there for the first time is the hardest but once you have done it you won't look back (well only to see if a car coming and is safe to cross the road) ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Good luck

I found that most of the real issues were in my head. The programme is great and will take care of the physical side. You just need to beware of the mental gremlyns who will tell you that you canโ€™t do it/youโ€™re too tired/itโ€™s too hard... none of that is true! You can do it....the programme is designed to push you a little bit more each time, but only in a perfectly manageble way. Good luck!

Go Shazza1969! When youโ€™re midway through the program youโ€™ll be giving your support to another newbie just as we all do. You can say how you doubted yourself and look where you are now!! I promise if you go slow and steady so as not to injure yourself youโ€™ll do great! Itโ€™s about the stamina more than the pace. X

Well done on making a start. Trust the program and believe in yourself. We were all in your position once, all with the same fears and worries, and weโ€™re all living proof that it is doable!!!
