W9r2 and feeling unsure

I have just completed W9r2 and I did struggle but I pushed myself and completed it. Problem is I am nowhere near 5k, just managing 4k. Do I keep going at the pace I can manage but do longer runs so I hit 5k or stay as I am and just run for the 30 mins. No way I can increase my pace at the moment. Thanks

Don't worry you're doing great, you will graduate by running for 30 minutes. Then consolidate this by running 30 minutes 3x per week. If you find you can't go faster that's ok , when you're ready you can increase the distance but only if you want to . It's whatever you feel happy with. Good luck 😊😊

Nearly there! Don’t worry about distance, it’s time spent running that’s the purpose of this programme. You’re doing great! I’ve just graduated, and still haven’t got to 4K!

Not many people get anywhere near 5k you're doing fine and you've nearly graduated "Whoop, Whoop". The plan should really be called couch to running 30 mins without stopping but that isn't as catchy.

Pace will come with time don't sweat it (though that is impossible at the moment) and even if doesn't getting out there is the main thing. In my circle of running friends there are people who do 17 min 5k and ones that do a 40 min one the important thing we are all enjoy it most of the time.

My 5k time is generally between 28-30 mins but today's park run was a slow one at 30.30 for me and to be honest I thought I was slower. Running is very personal and you should just enjoy it.

Sounds like you’re doing amazingly . I think it’s about the enjoyment of running and building on that. Im still early doors, nearly at end of week 6. Couldn’t run if my life depended on it but now can do 20 mins and still alive at the end of it! So I’m happy to build up. If I ever get to a 30 minute 5k it’ll be like an Olympic gold for me 🙏

I just completed W9r1 and I only just got to about 3 km but I just want to graduate then I’ll try to get to the 5 km and then if I feel I can I will try to get a bit faster. Go at your comfortable pace and you will graduate ahead of me. Happy running.

30 minutes is all that is needed..many folk never ever run 5K in 30 minutes... there is no need. Many of our most awesome runners on here are Marathoners or half marathoners, have never run 5K in 30 minutes... I did once...when I graduated because I thought I had to !!! Duh....

Just run, relax and cruise your way to the podium...enjoy and well done you!
