I haven't run for two weeks, not since the Apley Estates off-road 10k (ish) that I thoroughly enjoyed. I was struck down with lurgy the following day and am still fighting it off now.
Telford now has it's own Parkrun. I ran the first one with my fifteen year old son (under duress, but by the time we finished he wanted to do it again ) and acted as a marshal last week as I felt too under the weather to run. Tomorrow, I think I'm on Barcode Scanning duties - I have to scan the finishing tag and the runners' barcodes to record their times. Such responsibility - I hope I don't mess it up !
On Sunday, I'm planning a long-ish slow run. My first half-marathon is on 24 March and I'm getting anxious - if I can't manage this long run on Sunday I think I'll have to accept I won't be ready for the half as there isn't long to go.
Wish me luck please.......

Bar scanning wasn't a huge success ! It seems the little scanners don't like the cold and were quite temperamental - we had to write down a lot of the barcodes when it got busy. When the queue thinned out a bit and I could warm the scanner up in my hand between people, it started to work better. Now I have an anxious wait to see if all the results got recorded properly Other than that, it was fun
That sounds a bit nerve-wracking! Though it sounds as though you got it sorted out anyway. And anyone whose results aren't quite right should just do volunteering next time, to see what it's like!
Well, it looks as if almost all the results have been loaded to the parkrun website ok so I should be safe next time I marshal - the runners won't all be ranting at me. Phew !
If I can do 9 miles tomorrow I'll be really happy. The ladies I run with on a Sunday morning usually do 6ish on an out-and-back route so if I feel it's going well I'll probably branch off and try and get some extra miles in. I just hope the weather is as lovely as it is today.
