Completed this jog this morning but the last 60 seconds I nearly gave up but kept pushing through. Was a tough one I thought. But I did it, now I'm thinking I couldn't jog for 20 minutes after the last 8 minutes I done today. Do I complete this run again or see if I can do the next run?

Surprisingly running for 20 mins isn’t that bad. You’ve just done 16 with a walk in the middle which is about the same effort. You’ll be fine don’t worry.

Give it a go, I did, I failed but surprised myself by being able to run for 14mins. I've had to leave my ego at home when doing these runs, I know I will do it eventually. Good luck

I'll give it a go, but secretly doubting myself.. See how I go that's all I can do

I doubted myself all the way round my run and then gave up, with 6 minutes remaining. Was gutted. Preparation for Monday tho. We will both do it, eventually lol x

Just read the post preceding yours.........

Why repeat a run that you know you can do? The run that needs repeating is the one you cannot complete.

Start slow and you may surprise yourself. Your last five workouts have been longer than the next one.

You can do it.

As your a mentor is it right I should be breathing like a goldfish that's all I can try and find an expression.

You should be breathing like a human being. There is advice on the app and podcasts about breathing in relationship to the number of steps and also about breathing in through the nose. The former may be fine if you can manage it, but it was beyond my multitasking capabilities at the time I did C25K, so I just carried on as normal and a couple of years later realised that my breathing pattern pretty much matched that advocated.

As for breathing through the nose, it is impossible for most people to draw sufficient air solely through the nose.

Basically, just do what comes naturally and don't get hung up on it.

There is some coverage and links on this topic in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

I felt exactly the same, the second eight minutes were very hard.... But by comparison the 20 minute run was easier..... You've got this, the programme is brilliant and you've come this far.... Slow and steady you'll nail that 20 minutes.

The last of the 8 min run the last 60 seconds I nearly gave up

Yeah, but you didn’t give up. My last run of week 4 on Thursday I almost stopped in each 3 minutes. Couldn’t breathe, head about to explode, it was torturous to carry on. Yesterday I completed W5r1, and it was a breeze, felt like I was flying. Don’t repeat, and have faith. You can do it. 🏃🏻‍♀️

Weirdly the 20 is easier for some than the two 8s. I think the break in rhythm of the walk can make it harder. Just slow right down. Respect it. But don’t stop.
