Just completed week 1 run 3.
My hands swell when I run and stay swollen for hours after. My right leg is in so much pain it drags when I walk.
It gets worse after each run Instead of better but I don't want to quit

Doesn't sound like a great experience! The swollen hands are due to increased circulation in the heat. I get this sometimes, but its fine once the weather cools down. Make sure you take your rings off before you go!
The pain in the leg sounds like it needs someone (ie a professional) to look at it. Aches are ok and to be expected- but you shouldn't be running in actual pain, especially if its getting worse.
Please take care.. we are not experts but as Hidden says... pain is not something to run through. If your leg is dragging..please see a GP asap
Hi there! I think it’d be a good idea to speak to your GP about what you want to accomplish, and then about the pains and swelling you get when you run. Honestly, they’ll be very happy to help especially since you’re trying your best! Hope all goes well!
I have scoliosis, clicky hips and osteoarthritis in the knees... always worse on the right... the dragging happens even if I walk to far... docs think the leg may be a bit shorter than the left. My mum was the same....at least it hasn't set the sciatica off yet...
You sure are plucky, 😊 but I still think you need advice from a suitably qualified professional
You might think it’s a bit early in your running career to be splashing cash but I think in your position I’d be booking to see a sports physio and getting my gait analysed. If you do have one leg shorter they may be able to give you advice on running shoes and inserts. Good luck. I hope you can stick with the plan but don’t do yourself serious injury by ploughing on regardless.
I saw a sports physio earlier in the year.... when scoliosis plays up both feet turn in. They turn out when it is osteo flare up. Predominantly on the right side.
He suggested the couch to 5k!
As it happens I am on the sick due to c-ptsd and b.p.d
As others say, we are not qualified to give other than general advice, so do consult medical professionals.
If you suspect that you have one leg longer than the other (it is surprisingly common) then you need to get it assessed sooner rather than later. It can often be simply rectified by orthotic inserts. Without getting it sorted, you run a possible risk of permanent damage.
Running puts a lot of strains on the body and any asymmetry will cause uneven stresses, which can have serious knock on effects. I would see your GP initially, but you may need to see a physio or podiatrist also.
Take care.
