I covered 2.34 km in 23 minutes. First in took 10.09. 2nd km 10.04.
The first 90 seconds run felt good. Slow and steady. The three minutes it was good to hear Sarah half way but by gummy she took her time saying slow down and recover. I was breathing harder calf was burning. I made all the run but was I actually running? I had walked yesterday 8 miles and my legs don't hurt like they do as I run. Help please

If your doing a running motion and not walking then your running. If your out of breath and breathing harder (so long as you can catch your breath) you are running and building stamina. Can you imagine back in week 1 running 90s repeatedly like that?
I am on Week 4 Run 2 and I have noticed that my times have improved, but the apps that track that are not really what this is meant for in my opinion. The app is building your stamina to be able to run continuously for a set period of time (that may or may not mean you run 5k).
On Sarah, I love her, but I have never sworn at a woman so much in my life. She never seems to say your done quick enough!
Yes, it’s running! Don’t be so hard on yourself. Slow down and enjoy each run. You’re on W3 already 👏
We are on week 9 and last run on Thursday. But back at the beginning, we even repeated week 1 three times because we didn't feel comfortable. After one minute, I was to put it bluntly, knackered! This morning I ran for 30 minutes and after I stopped, although slightly out of breath, I recovered in less than a minute.
We are still not fast. My pace this morning was slower than normal at 7:38 per kilometer. But it was OK. Normally do 6:50 ish. Your pace at your stage is fine. Good speed to go at while your lungs get used to supplying the oxygen your muscles need. It will come. It will get easier. Onwards and upwards
The difference between walking and running is not speed: if at any point in each stride both feet are off the ground at once you’re running. (In a walking race you get disqualified if you don’t have at least one foot on the ground at all times!)
Re the legs hurting do you have proper running shoes? I know they say ordinary trainers will do till week 4 but I had to go and buy proper running shoes after W2R1 or I might not have continued. The difference was remarkable; my legs don’t hurt at all when I run now (I’m on week 4).
Hi thank you for your reply, I might just be running, just very slowly but then again I am really unfit at running, I can walk for miles. I bought running shoes last week, definitely sorted out the foot pain as I run on the outside, I think its now the calf muscles screaming for oxygen.
Glad you got the feet sorted! Remember this programme is about duration not distance or speed. Despite the name the objective after 9 weeks is not to cover 5k but to run for 30 minutes non stop. They keep telling us it it’s much to early to worry about speed.
