Week 5 Run 2

I completed it! 8 minute runs felt like such a massive step up, but I remember how 3 minutes felt like that a few weeks ago. My speed is terrible, but I managed it, so that's good!

It's run 3 and week 6 run 1 I'm really nervous (i.e. scared) about. I've tried the C25k before about 4-5 years ago and was going along fine until this point. Last time I managed the 20 minute run, but when I tried to move on to week 6, I fell apart. For some reason I couldn't seem to run for more than 90 seconds, and I lost all motivation and didn't move for about 4 years.

I know it's half mental and half physical, I just hope I manage it this time!

Good luck stick at it! I am exactly like you but have NO experience in running over 5 minutes non stop! When you say you are slow, do you know how much distance you are covering? I'm doing about 3.5 - 4 km including warm up walk and warm down

3.2 km including the warm up/down. I've definitely slowed down for week 5 though.

Just run.. forget distance..it can be a real issue at this stage and can hinder your progress:)

Every run prepares you for the next... every week builds on the previous week. Yes, the runs are different, yes, they change and challenge a little... but in a safe structured way.

The runs have to be structured differently because your runs are never the same.. short runs, which may need more speed. and then longer runs which require more stamina... all you do here, is the beginning of that process.

I have posted this reply, within other posts, three times this morning:) You can do this... all you need is for yourself to believe it....

Just put speed and distance out of your head... the runs now, are just made for relaxing into.... let our legs, which know what they are doing just carry you along. Go gently and let them find their happy pace...:)

Look around, take everything in. breathe gently and trust the plan:)

As Edison said,

" If we did all the things we are capable of, we would literally astound ourselves

."

Go on.... astound yourself!

Well, I did W5R3!! Non stop running! I know I set off too quick, I knew that at the time but couldn't seem to pull back anyway. Minutes 9-12 were really difficult, as were the last three minutes or so. It felt like I wanted to stop, but I kept going! And I'd had a cider with dinner, so feel even more pleased! (The drink + a run was not planned!)

Onto the glories of week 6!!
