...and I did it - ran for 16 minutes in total in the local park! First time I've run outside on my own without the husband. Nodded a good morning to the various dog walkers who were around and there were quite a few I was pleased to see, it's a very large park and I was a bit nervous about doing it on my own but it was fine.
Managed the first 8 minute run really well, on the second run I thought that Laura was going to pipe up with 'you've got 60 seconds left' as it seemed to be going on for such a long time, but no, she said 'you've done half' meaning I'd only done 4 minutes which seemed like 40 so I decided to use markers to make the last 4 mins go quicker. When she finally did say I had 60 seconds left I was approaching a massive mountain which I didn't run up the other day as I was too scared but I went for it this time and I did it!! Luckily it was only half way up when she said to walk and I staggered up the remainder but I did it and I'm so proud of myself!!
Onto the big one on Friday, the 20 minute run, which is only 4 minutes more than I did today so is very do-able I think

Hey congratulations! I am brand new to this forum, but we are at about the same place in the programme. I just completed week 5 today. The 20 minute run with no breaks really scared me, but I discovered it was really rather okay once I got into it. Mostly a mental battle overcome quickly by taking a new running route (went to a different park today) and trying to focus on surroundings/route instead of tiredness. I also kept a VERY slow pace and I think that helped a lot.
