So tonight I achieved week 5 run 3. I was absolutely fine during the 20 minutes and couldn’t quite believe what I’d managed to achieve however Instead of being overjoyed as soon as I got to the cool down I started going dizzy, felt like I was going to pass out and had to get off the treadmill with 2.5 minutes of walking time left before I fainted. I then felt seriously unwell for the next ten minutes. It’s now put me off carrying on with the programme as I’ve scared myself! Any advice would be appreciated as I don’t want to be doing myself any damage and I’m quite gutted I don’t feel that success!

Week 5 Run 3 - Help!
how awful for you, I'm sorry to hear that. Sorry I can't give advice except perhaps get checked out by the doctor before carrying on. Had you eaten enough or drank enough water? Hope you feel better soon.
Crikey, had you eaten enough throughout the day? Perhaps your blood sugars were a bit low and you didn’t have enough energy in the tank?
oh no! It's important to seek medical advice to rule out any underlying medical conditions - you don't want to risk your health. Hopefully it's just dehydration, but you can't be too careful with your health.
I don't want to sound like a doom monger but quite a few of us had a tough time with W6 R1 & 2.... So I'd take the advice of the others here and get checked. W6 is as much a mental challenge as it is physical.... Fingers crossed it was a simple hydration thing, 20 mins is a long time...
Another vote for visiting your GP. In common with everyone else, its probably dehydration, but we don't know anything about you, your age, underlying medical conditon etc and whilst we don't want to frighten you, we also cannot simply recommend carrying on as if nothing has happened. Assuming that you have a trainer at the gym, it would also be wise to mention this run to them the next time you go (just so that they can keep an eye on you).
Please don't run again until you've had the OK from your GP.
Thanks for this miss_spozzy. This was the reason I have taken up running (to increase the cardio a couple of times a week)- For two consecutive years I’ve had this problem on the first climb of a long weekend in The Lakes- the rest of the weekend has been fine- just the first climb at about 800ft. I didn’t actually faint but went ashen white, dizzy, sweaty and shaky. Took about 45mins to recover (laying down with my feet higher than head). I decided to get it checked out and have had a quick ECG, 24-hr ECG, 1 week blood pressure monitor and every conceivable blood test. The only thing found was a folic acid deficiency. I’m sure it is unlikely to be the same for you but you MUST get checked by your GP!!
I’ve just completed W5R2 so thanks for the “heads up”. I’ll certainly be careful on Thursday.
Hopefully it is just a blip/dehydration or similar. Keep us posted
Thanks again !
