Well done. Iβm planning to keep doing W9 until I get up to 5k and start doing Parkruns to see how long my 5ks take before I can do them in 30 mins. Then Iβm looking to try to build up to 10k by this time next year.
Sounds like a good plan, the local parkrun is on the same trails I currently use. If I'm left to my own devices I'll probably end up strolling to the visitors centre for a brew and a butty.
Well done on your run, sounds like you're doing fantastically. And I just had to comment because I was singing that song in my head! I'm very glad the horses in the picture look to be with us still... based on the last verse lol
As for your post-grad running career, it sounds great, and always good to have something to aim for and motivate you.
Yeah, I've been wondering about what to when this is finished too, will probably follow the advice of the experts on here and do more 30-minute or so runs to consolidate, and then fairly quickly move onto the 5k+ podcasts or Bridge to 10k programme or similar, to bring back that structure which I suspect I need. Will do a Parkrun sometime over the summer and see what that's like... and ultimately if there's a 5k (or even 10k??) run I can get my name down for, which looks like the right length/location/date, that could also provide a target to aim for.
BTW (at the risk of showing my age)... I've heard that if you swallow a fly, the best thing to do is to swallow a spider to catch the fly - just beware that it may wriggle and jiggle and tickle
It will be strange not to have a plan! I'm finishing week 7 tonight hopefully. I think I'm going to keep running for 30 mins for a while and maybe try a small bit of uphill!! I don't think speed will be my thing. We've set ourselves a target of a park run by September. Our local one does not look like a slow one!
I understand what you mean about having a plan to follow. Otherwise I'd just flounder. This is the longest I've ever managed to sustain a running programme.
