I have been on the couch since the 25th April, I managed to hurt my knee on run W5 R1. It hasn’t been easy trying to rest my knee because I teach English to children in Italy and I’m not very good at teaching whilst sat down.
I thought my new shoes might have caused the problem, so when i was in the UK I had my gait analysed by some fab people in a running shop near the Sheffield Cathedral.
Can I ask how anyone can run any distance on a running machine? I nearly disappeared off the edge of it, twice.
Anyway the lady said my gait was ok, and despite the fact I was drooling over a snazzy red pair of running shoes (£150.00) She told me my running shoes were perfectly fine and if i really wanted to spend my money, I should buy a pair of shoes that are a cross between road and trek shoes ( £75.00). They would give me more foot better support when I run through the vineyards.
This week my leg felt a bit better, not perfect but better, this evening I ran WK 5 R2 . It was hard my leg gave a couple of twinges, mainly as I ran downhill. Just to be on the safe side I have put an ice pack on it and I will rest it tomorrow.
Hopefully I can walk on it tomorrow and finish Week 5 sometime over the weekend.
Have a great weekend

Ha ha! That made me chuckle. I'm guessing you were joking about the treadmill- I mean honestly you probably need a longer treadmill 😉. I'm due to do that run tomorrow (on a treadmill). Good luck with R3 & hope your leg gets better.
Go you!! 🎉🎊🍾 Well done for getting back out there after such a long absence, hurrayyy! Week 5 nearly done, good going! Think about how far you’ve come already rather than dwell on the bump in the road the past few weeks. Take it easy and don’t over-exert yourself. (Also, watch Bridget Jones to see how she got on on a spin cycle - not much better than you on a treadmill, haha!)
Good plan. I am doing my next run tomorrow. I wanted to give myself two days rest to avoid the risk of that knee twinge coming back. I think you’re wise to wait more than the regular day too. Don’t worry about it though as it is ok once you get going. Honest!
