Woohooo, got the gait analysis done & treated myself to proper running shoes.
Thought it might be a bit daunting to walk into a specialist shoe store to ask for gait analysis and running shoes.
How much to I run, slow or fast, how frequently, the distance I normally run & if I have any injuries or soreness is all they asked before getting me to jump on the treadmill. She asked if I am ok to run 20secs because I told her I am just a beginner, run slow and aiming to get to run 5km some day soonish
Got me a nice pair of running shoes and the lady said when I increase my distances & speed they will be happy to help me upgrade!
Starting week 8 from tomorrow, very excited to see the difference the new shoes make π

Thank you OF..I have not reached the 'enjoy' state yet when it comes to running. Liking the sense of achievement every run gives & hopefully there are some health benefits too as I continue with c25k.
Nothing like proper running shoes and socks to be honest! Plus after the investment you definitely will be spurred on to complete and keep on running at the end of C25k πββοΈππ»ππΎββοΈ
I have been thinking as well & couldn't find time. Today I had gone out for brunch & remembered I had googled to look for gait analysis and the shop was nearby. Had a few minutes so got it done!I read ur post about w8r1, I think you did amazing!
I had the same thing - worrying about going into a specialist running shop on the edge of Oxford, and thinking I had absolutely no business being there. They were great, really helpful and well worth the trip.
Nothing too flash, just the running shoes they recommended for over pronation - Asics GT 1000 10. Had my first run in them yesterday and they felt pretty good. Hope they will help avoiding shin splints!
