Hi everyone. I know we shouldn’t be worried about pace at this stage but I was just wondering how I compare to others. How ‘slow’ is my slow?? My average speed is 13 minutes per mile..

My treadmill is currently set to 3.2 mph (19 mins per mile) for brisk walk and 3.5 mph (17 mins per mile) for the "run". So you are positively sprinting compared to me ;)

Believe me I am definitely not sprinting lol! Far from it!! I am tall and have a big stride so I guess that means I’m covering more ground compared to someone less tall??!

You shouldn’t be worrying about pace at any stage - unless you’re making plans for the next Olympics - but what you are doing sounds perfectly respectable.

Iannodatruffe would say only compare yourself to yourself- only he would say it better! 😃 Lots of people say that pace gradually picks up with experience, without you particularly trying. Of course, later, if you want to work on pace then you can. Post C25K there are lots of “what shall I focus on” choices.

Enjoy your journey at your own comfortable pace. 😄

Thank you 😊. I’m not focusing on pace, just on getting through each run, that appears to be my average pace, that’s all. I did find today’s run a little tough, but I do have a cold, on my next run I will try and slow down a little 😊

If you are comfortable with that pace then that is fine. It should be an easy conversational pace, as explained in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Comparison is futile if you look at range of ages, physical ability/disability, gender and fitness that others bring to the feast.

Thank you. I know all of the above, I’m just interested, that’s all! 😊

I vary between 13.00 and 13.50 depending on route, weather & just generally how I’m feeling. That average includes the warm up walk and walks in between. (I switch strava off for warm down)
