Pace

Week 8 run 3 I never thot I would get this far as I struggled a lot and repeated several weeks along the way.

My worry is pace. I’ve worked out at current Very slow pace I would need to rIn for 40 min to do 5k. This seems too slow.

I think I will be able to work up to 40 min eventually but although my recovery time is much better than it was at start I can’t say I enjoy the run just the sense of achievement when it’s nearly over.

Your pace is just fine !

This is about building strength and stamina not speed.

And the program requires that you complete all runs and on week 9 run 3x 30 minutes, distance is irelevant 😁👍

I'm going to be about 42 minutes to complete 5k but that's more than fine and the average from what I can tell ( there was a poll I saw on here somewhere and the average 3.5k in 30 minutes. The main goal is to consistently run (well, at least 3 times), for 30 minutes and then you can work towards getting 5k under 30 minutes if you chose to continue after completion.

I'm going to aim for 4k in 30 minutes first, then 4.5k and eventually 5k. I think little goals like that will help keep an interest, similar to the weekly goals we've been doing in the programme.

Your pace is fine- you will become faster as you build up stamina & miles on your running legs. 😀

I found that I gradually grew into enjoying running more over a long time. Thinking positive thoughts & telling yourself that it’s great helps too! 😄

Your pace is just fine! This isn’t a pace related challenge, the challenge is 30 minutes of running no matter how slow. As long as you’re running, that’s the main thing! I’m sure once you’ve been running more regularly you may feel your pace improving but really don’t worry about it for now. You’ve ran for 28 minutes without stopping! I bet you couldn’t believe you’d do that 8 weeks ago!

Ha, it took me 50 minutes yesterday to get that magical 5k, but conversely, because I ran slow it was absolutely fine.

If you want to do it, do it.

I run really slow. I have started to forget distance and just enjoy the increase in times.
