Week 5 Run 2 done in the pouring rain! ☔️☔️☔️

Who would have thought we could run 8 mins straight after 4 weeks?! Today I ‘ran’ with my headphones in and listened to music which made the time go quicker. Usually I run with a buddy and chatter. No offence but prefer music! What is everyone else’s preference?

I’m running this solo and couldn’t imagine not having music to get me through.

Sadly I’ve managed to “ruin” some favourite songs by having them in my playlist and encountering a difficult phase of the run. I’m looking at you, Going Underground by The Jam.

Well done! I couldn't manage without my music and without my personal trainer on the app, I know I would just stop! I also feel cocooned from the outside world to an extent with my earbuds in. I just use a good radio station which means I don't murder any favourite songs (see post by Jay66UK).

I prefer running on my own, just like I always went to the gym on my own. I noticed if friends going together often spent a lot of time chatting! Not that that's a problem while running of course, if you have the breath!

Chatting helps me keep my breathing in check but it also means I’m checking the app for timings as we only use my phone. I think for longer runs music is the key. 😊

I tend to start trying to sing along (breathlessly) so to avoid that (and any embarrassment!) I focus on deep, low breaths in and out to a count, it really helps me.

I'm a solo runner too and a playlist is key for me. I have devised a 'super mix' with some great long tunes so i don't notice how long I've been at it for :-)

I LOVE listening to music on my runs! I’m a solo runner by preference. It’s my “me” time, time to think things over. Occasionally I run with the Zombie, Run app, if I don’t feel the need to meditate on anything, and that is highly entertaining!

Keep on running, you are doing really well - and in the rain, too! 🌨💦🌨🏃‍♀️👏

Thank you! I think when I get to the straight long runs it will def be with music and on my own. Although did have to keep slowing myself down as got carried away with some of my tracks! 😬
