Hi just wondering how others have got on on week 5. I did run two tonight and it was ok although my knees started to get sore towards end of run. I can’t imagine how I am going to go from my 8 min runs tonight to 20 mins on Friday. How have others found it, is it even possible.lol.

Believe in yourself and in the program, Mairi. I was a nervous wreck on the morning of W5R3, but it was AMAZING. It sounds so much worse than it is. Stay calm, relax into it, and (this sounds like some spacey waffle, and I'm sorry!) just focus on the now, not on how long you have left to run. When you get that voice telling you that you only have five minutes left to run, you will KNOW that you can do it. And the feeling you'll get at the end of that run is amazing. I'm half way through W7, but finishing that particular run was the best thing ever. :)

Thanks furlmouse for the encouragement, I need to think positively and just go slow and steady, although I am going really slowly already. I have come on and the program does work considering I found 90 seconds almost impossible at the start😊

Thanks Oldfloss, I am worried about the 20 min run but I will give it my best shot and hopefully I will manage it.😃

You will... the run has got itself a bad name..it is just a run... the whole programme is about different disciplines in our running and you are ready for it:)

I will be doing r3 (20 mins!!) tomorrow, eagerly anticipating but so want to succeed. I did finish r2 but can't say it was easy but hey we have come this far and like oldladyruns (even though I am older than her :) ) says we W5'ers are in this together. Good luck, you'll nail it.

Aw really good luck Lorijay for tomorrow, please let us know how it goes. I haven’t found any of it easy. Lol. but I have done it and pretty much have amazed myself at the difference in my ability from week 1 to now. I had never run since I was in school and that was many moons ago, I am 57 .Good luck fellow week 5er.xx

I’m up early tomorrow to do R3. Anxious, but I have faith in how the programme has got me to here. Good luck with your run on Friday!

Good luck for tomorrow, really looking forward to hearing how it goes for you. I’m anxious about my 20 min run on Friday because I was glad when I got to the end of 8 mins tonight! Anyway will give it my best shot. The programme has worked some kind of magic so far so let’s hope it continues.lol.

Others say it’s as much mental as physical and not to go too fast. I’m looking forward to it and hope I can pace myself properly. I love that it is just one run...even if it is so long!

Good luck, I’m sure you will smash it.😊

You were moving for 21 minutes between warm up and cool down, so the next workout is shorter.

Not what you're looking for?
