Hello - I am a newbie.

Hi

I am a new runner. I have only done the first 2 runs in week 1, but determined to see this through. I am in my 50s and haven't done much exercise for many years.

I built up to running by walking longer distances with my dogs - they are certainly fitter now, and so am I!

I would like to lose weight and generally be fitter and lead a healthier lifestyle. I never thought I would be interested in such things, but hey...and as my GP tells me, I am the 'wrong' side of 50 now. Never felt happier though :-)

All the best to you all.

Hi Elle, it is nice to see that there are a few of us 50 something newbies around! I have just come back from W2R3 and am munching an apple. I also want to improve my overall health. We can follow each other's progress 😀

I'm nearly 51 and just hope my GP never tells me i'm the wrong side of 50! :O :O Age is just a number and there are plenty of older people into their 70's and 80's who are very fit.

Good you've started this programme, keep it up! :) :)

Hello there! I too am 50 something and have just completed week 3. Ate an apple after instead of my usual coffee and biscuit(s)! Keen to lose weight and get fitter. Just joined this forum today. Really motivated to do this.

"The wrong side of 50"? Which side would that be? Cheeky b****r! I'm rolling up to 50 and I'm having a ball now my kids are big enough to fend for themselves and get the bus home from school, and can no longer get sanctimonious about their parents' bad habits because they know they've got their own.

Enjoy the programme, and keep us posted!

Am just the right side of 60 and have never run before - just done week 7 run 2. Feel great and am certainly fitter and a size smaller. I too started threw brisk walking certainly helps at the beginning I think.

Good luck and enjoy 😉

I’m the same 50 something lol just joined today. Going for my first attempt wish me luck I’m gonna need it lol

Hi Elle, I think you need to meet my GP, she always tell me 50 is the new 40! So as you’ve just lost 10 years, you’ll be as fit as a fiddle in no time at all. Good luck for your final W1 run.

Most of us felt like that...running? Me? Ha! 😂😂 now of course after a huge slice of humble pie, well we're just plain addicted.

This programme is fantastic and it teaches you more than just how to run. You'll feel so different in so little time.
