I did it! When I started this in July I never thought I would be able to run for 5 minutes, never mind 30, but I've done it. I've done it all on a treadmill because I was having problems with my knees, but am hoping that now I've lost some weight and am fitter I might be able to cope with running outside...a new challenge! Any tips?

Well done you! Go claim your graduation badge and start off slowly and steadily outside as you've done in this programme. It is a different feeling as you have to pace yourself instead of the tread doing it for you (and the obvious obstacles of kerbs, hills and people!) but build on the fitness you've achieved and you'll soon have the choice of running inside or outside
Well done vangus, really pleased for you. You are a star ππππ
Tips for running outside- I suppose the most important is a pair of good supportive running shoes which I bet you've got already. I do take my phone and use an app because I do like to map my run see how well or bad I've done. I have one of those arm things for it and I bought a pair of blue tooth head phones, they're great they sit just inside your ears so you can hear all around you. It's cooling down now and as I only started in June I haven't had the cooler weather to deal with so not sure about clothing wise. I much prefer running outside it feels really liberating to be able to run.
Not looking forward to the hills!
Congratulations! I hope you are enjoying the amazing feeling!
As wez says, the biggest difference is having to learn to pace yourself and to cope with the elements.
But there is such pleasure in running through different surroundings especially if you have lovely countryside around.
Yeah just get out there and run. It's a blast!
Yay! Congratulations - go get your shiny badge πππππ Running outside is great and I run on trails so it feels like an obstacle course sometimes but I love the fresh air and the scenery. Shoes and right clothing are best tips I guess π
Congratulations!!
