Hi just starting out on the journey, finished week one ok, I'm looking for a rough guide as to how long it should take I just want to judge if I've got my pace right for walking and running. Cheers

Not being smart but there really are no 'shoulds' in the programme GM :) I'm bloody elated when I do 5K in under 35 minutes for instance, and on average I 'only' run 25% faster than I walk over the same distance and route :)

As for the programme itself - we had a survey of graduates here a while back and results showed that less than ten percent graduated on time/with distance. :)

I enjoy running - I try to keep my 'competitiveness' streak to a minimum so for me the clock is a nuisance if I start paying attention to it when it comes to 'speed' especially. The times for walking and running in the programme are very well thought out - few if any risk injury by following the formula.

I hope this helps you somewhat and wishing you many happy miles in your future :)

Cheers , I know there are no rights and wrongs I guess the thought of 5k in 25mins is pretty daunting

It would take so much time and training for me to do a thirty minutes of less 5K I don't even want to try :) anything under 35 is just peachy for me :)

Ever read the iconic 'The Loneliness of the Long Distance runner" ? I had, many decades ago. Read it again last year now that I can look at it with a 'runners eye'.

Gobsmacked that 'Long Distance' is FIVE MILES ! I would have guessed at least 20! :)

but I can guarantee you this - I personally achieve just as much when I run 10K as Mr Bolt does when he gets his Olympic Golds :) Genetics is not a choice - but hard effort is :) And I have a sneaking suspicion that becuase there is no gold prospects in the balance for me...I perhaps have a tad more fun out there than Mr B ;)

Darn 17 year old a while back was whining that he 'did not do it in his age' - wanted to do it in 17 minutes and came in about eight seconds over! On the other hand - I had a touch of pneumonia for the last month and was THRILLED when my first venture out I was able to not only walk the whole 5K but did it in only an hour and ten minutes or something :)

Our evilest competitor can too often be ourself ;)

Hi, well done for starting!! I’m now at Week 6 (although it’s taken about 10 weeks to get here!) and each session takes me about 30 mins. HTH
