Ninja running in my new black togs went well this morning- an extra 5 min warm-up seemed to make the run less challenging, then a good 5 mins stretching afterwards to avoid aches (so I thought).
Recurring mild shin splints seem to have been solved by loosening my laces, which is fab.
But this afternoon I was sooo tired I had to have a nap and now my whole body is one great ache. How can 3 extra minutes make me such a difference?
Not sure I can do this before a day’s work....

Have a look at strength and flex podcasts on here. On your non run days try and do something like walking, swimming cycle, dancing Zumba etc. I like walking and yoga as it helps with the aches I do beginners yoga in my sitting room to a Tamal Dodge dvd
On your run days you only need to go really slowly
Hi Sarararara!!! I'm on WK 8 too, and I've had exactly the same problem!! I've done 2 of the 3 runs now, but haven't been out for a week now because the muscles in the top of my leg were so sore, stupidly, it was only one leg!!! Am worried now when I do next that I'll be in pain again!! Doh. Good luck, I'm sure we can do this!!!
Go us! I’m investigating the strength and stamina exercises (yikes) to see if they might help.... in the meantime I’m going to drop to 2 runs per calendar week so plenty of recovery time.
Lol, I've only done 2 runs per c week from about week5!!!! So now I'm down to 1 per week. I will get there eventually, only 4 more runs to go. Slow and steady for us both. Good luck.
I Can’t cope running before work as I need to eat something first (ideally two hours before running) and I need a lot of recovery time. Running after work is great now the nights are light and then I can shower and get cosy! And it’s great mental stress reliever after a long day.
It’s not as hard as it sounds- lay out your running clothes in the morning and have a treat planned for after! My husband gets up at 530 am to run sometimes and I would rather have a longer lie and go out after work it works for me and I have time for a nice shower or bath after and time to analyse my strava stats rather than rush out the door, whatever you do though is brilliant and it just needs to become a habit !
( I try diarying in three runs a week as an appointment with myself!)
Ooooh ... Join the achey club! Finally on W9 & two runs per week quite enough for me! But I'm an end of day person. I think you just have to go with what suits best. Good luck!
