Just wanted to say thank you to everyone on here, I have been lurking for a while reading all the posts and comments and just generally being motivated ☺️ today I set out for week 7 run 3 and wasn't feeling overly confident, the past couple of runs have been really tricky gremlin wise!!
However today was different, I set into a good rhythm early on and the usual evil first 10 minutes didn't seem to bother me as much. I kept running for a little while longer when it was time to turn around at the halfway point, and by the time it got to the end I felt good enough to run through the cooldown just to see if I could make it. By the time that was over I was on 30 minutes of running and at 4 kilometres, however still not at home so I decided to just keep going until then. When I got to my house, I was at 4.5k, so I thought "we're not giving up now!" and just ran until I got to 5k!!! It felt great to have reached this milestone and I owe a lot of it to this forum for helping me realise I'm not on my own
Rewarded myself with a good long stretch and a session on the foam roller, tomorrow I'm going into town to get new trainers as with longer distance I have gained the mother of all blisters from my current ones!!
Now for a few weeks of consolidating, some parkruns and then who knows...!! 10k next...???
It's a funny old sport, I'm hoping today wasn't a massive fluke!

WOW 5k is a huge milestone, that's absolutely amazing! And nothing beats that satisfaction 😊 I've just started and 5k is a while away, but like you, I'm looking forward to the parkruns as soon as I'm a bit more confident 😁
It's so strange, when I set out I was feeling grumpy at how I wasn't going to be able to run 5k for ages, I usually cover around 3.3k at best (once I did 3.5 on run 1 but that nearly killed me as I was going way too fast, it felt like my lung was going to fall out 😂). Something just clicked in my head!
Good luck with the programme, if you stick to it there's no reason you won't be able to do it one day!
You did well.... many folk never make 5K, by Graduation or even after . Are you carrying on with the programme to reach Graduation?
These last weeks. leading up to the ninth week of three thirty minute runs do carry on the steady process of building up those leg muscles, your stamina and your strength. C25K has just begun the process...it goes on
Thanks! I'm definitely going to carry on with the program, having some structure is what gets me out in the first place and sometimes I'd struggle without MJ!
Thanks, I've got some new socks and have rewarded myself with new shoes, until they're broken in I'll just load up on the plasters, my feet are just prone to them I think, I get them fairly easily!!
