Hi I am an overweight and very very unfit mum rolling towards 50 and have decided now or never to do something about it. Downloaded the app and did my first run today with my young son running along beside me encouraging me along. I was the color of a tomato at the end and huffing and puffing which is embarrassing but I am chuffed that I did itπ€ I hope the runs get easier π¬
survived my first run of week 1 : Hi I am an... - Couch to 5K
survived my first run of week 1
Well done you. Snap! Other than I havenβt done the run yet! 50 in 54 days so need to get a wriggle on!!
Well done!
Well done! I'm in a similar situation - nearly 50, first run yesterday with my 12 year old son. I took it really slow (I had read the advice on here) and that really helped.
Lx
thank you π . and good luck Ellebear you can do itππ». I was super super slow in each run section and my son was holding my phone giving me a countdown in the last 20 seconds to get me to the end each time and it worked. You will feel really really proud of yourself when you do it even if you do feel shattered. π€

I'm 52 can't believe how unfit and fat I've become I used to be super fit!! Trying to force myself out for the first run but to be honest I'm embarrassed and ashamed- what if I see someone?!
Hi Pancakes, the first step is reaching out to this forum-its filled with helpful genuine people who will support you all the way - so well done for getting here! I found it excruciating to get started - overweight 50year old bumbling around the estate gasping for breath .... I went early in the morning or when it was dark in the evening to minimise contact! And if I saw someone coming I'd just cross the road or there's always the option of doubling back - or finding a quiet field until you get your confidence up π You will be sooo thrilled when you've done it, it will be well worth the anxiety beforehand - head down, do it - you'll be back in 30!! and please let us know how it goes!! Go you! X
Aah Pancakes!! Am 54, a bit chubs, sweat like am in the Sahara and am bright red for the run and for about 2 hours after. I hate people seeing me run but just style it out these days. I just go 'hahaha sorry about the beetroot face!' and keep going!! Thought I would never get the hang of running at the beginning but am about to start week 9. Just do it - don't overthink and you will be brilliant.
Go for it Pancakes. I was really worried about seeing people while running but it was actually fine. passed some neighbors walking their dogs who smiled when i huffed passed and that was it. it is such a good feeling to finish that final 60 second jog that you wonβt remember who saw you out there just that you did it πββοΈπ you can do it ππ»
Oh i forgot to say well done you! π
Well done! I am always the colour of a tomato when Iβve finished π I just think well I must have put enough effort in then ππ
Hey well done you!! There must be something about the big 50!! I'll be 50 in June and also overweight - have let myself go big time!! There's no better time for us to start this journey! Enjoy! π¬
