W6R2 re-run

So, I took a very brisk 15 minute walk to the start of the local Parkrun (can you see where I went wrong yet?), reached the start 15 minutes early and decided to not wait for the Parkrun but start my session straight away. Of course, 6 minutes or so into my first run all my energy had gone and I had to walk - sluggily - for 2 minutes before resuming my run. I then continued the programme.

I can't decide whether to repeat this session again or move on to session 3. Next week I am going to either walk to the Parkrun very slowly, drive there (what is the point?) or get there very early and make sure I'm rested before I start. I could, of course, avoid the Parkrun until I graduate but i want to run WITH someone. I am, literally, suffering The Loneliness of the Short Distance Runner!

Despite the fact that W6 appears to be jinxed for me, I am beginning to feel that I'm on the cusp of runnerhood! I have a dream of being able to run the 4 miles to work. Eventually! 😊

Have a wonderful Saturday.

Oh gosh how frustrating! I can't imagine doing a parkrun yet (will start week 6 tomorrow) and I still prefer running on my own. I would have thought its best to finish the programme first but I guess its individual. Hope you find a running buddy!

I have decided to remain alone until I graduate. I did have a running buddy for the first few weeks but she succumbed to injury and I really can't break someone else in now.

You misunderstand ParkRuns. They’re for all abilities. Plenty walk. People push buggies. People walk with dogs. I do one of my sessions inside and walk the rest of the way. You should defo try it. People there are so nice and encouraging. No one judges you. 👍🏽

I love doing a session in the ParkRun! ParkRuns rock! Just did W5R3 in today’s. People don’t understand that they’re for all abilities and there are plenty of walkers. When the ParkRun starts I start the session off so I do my 5 mins walk first which means everyone darts off and leaves me behind however when I start running I catch up and overtake a few people. When the session finishes I just walk to the end, sometimes fitting in a couple of extra short runs. I think once I get to the 25/28/30 mins runs I’ll park 5 mins away and count the walk there as my warm up, and start the runs at the same time as other people.

Short distance runners run around in circles on a track. At week 6 you are a long distance runner.
