Help please!

Hey! So I am new to this and I have just completed my week 1 running. I have some doubts as to whether is it okay for women to run during their Menstruation. Also, I would be happy if you people could advice on the precautions to be carried out for the same :)

It is absolutely fine, aruvi. In fact, it can help lift your mood during this time of the month. There is nothing a woman cannot do during menstruation that she would normally do otherwise! I run at ALL times of the month!

Perfectly fine to run, the light exercise can even help relieve some of the cramps 😊

hi, I agree with Sadie-runs, you can do anything you would do while not menstruating, while menstruating! Your mood might tell you you don't feel like it though, but I also find exercise helps my mood. It also helps my cramps, usually.

As for precautions, use whatever you normally would. Especially in the first weeks of Couch to 5K, the runs are short. If you do bleed very heavily you might worry but even at the end of Couch to 5K you would only be out exercising for 40 minutes total. Wear whatever is comfortable that you normally wear and see how you go.

I have to admit the first time I ran on my period I stayed close to home in case it made my preferred protection (a menstrual cup) move around too much, but it was fine.

*caveat - use whatever you normally would as long as it allows you to walk around comfortably (perhaps not everyone is in this situation), a light jog certainly shouldn't be an issue. I haven't personally found any other "features" of menstruating to be an issue - e.g. tender breasts, with a decent sports bra I've been fine.

It's perfectly fine! It's not an illness, it's just life! Enjoy 😊
