Hello! I’ve been lurking as a non-member for a few weeks as I’ve made my way through the runs. I had a bit of a hit and miss start but I’ve just completed the first run off week 3 today (on the treadmill as it’s freezing out there). This community looks the perfect place to get and give support as the runs get tougher. Wk 4 looks tough so I thought I’d better join in case I find a reason to chicken out!!! 😳
I was pleasantly surprised today that it was easier than I thought but I had my husband next to me on a neighbouring treadmill which helped. I usually do 2 on the treadmill and 1 on the road but it depends on the weather and how much time I have.
I used to be quite fit (cycling mainly but a bit of running) but then I had kids. I know I can run 5k as I’ve done it before, but that was 15 years ago and the muscles need waking up again! Fingers crossed 🤞🤞🤞
Good luck & happy running everyone 😊

Thank you IannodaTruffe, that’s a very useful article. I found the part on HeelStrike particularly interesting as I had previously thought putting your heel down first was wrong. I blindly followed Laura on the podcast as it’s NHS so I assumed it was right. Glad I’ve found out before I’ve got into the tougher weeks.
I think I may try the app to see if there are any other nuggets of wisdom I can get during the runs. Laura is great but by the 3rd run it’s good to hear something different 😁
i did not know of the Laura podcasts, techie dinosaur. But I have the links and will try them in the future. They say she is the best.A advantage also with Laura, there is continiuity,to the bridge? and supporting exercises? But variety is good and you can swap back at the drop of a hat.
I am enjoyed MJ for the running posture, etc.
Apparently one other little misunderstanding is on breathing, raised yesterday by Frenchvisitor, was breathing through your nose. Just do it in your own way. I am passionare about this and have posted some stuff.Tried some things on my training run this morning that I am just going to post now.
