Returning to the programme

Hi

I followed the app last October and got to week 5 run 2 until I had to stop due to heart problems. I've since been discharged by the cardiologist and have been told I can return to running. My question would be, should I start from week 1 again and follow the plan or do something different? Thanks in advance.

Hi welcome back! If it were me I’d start again from the start just to give your body time to adapt again and ease back into it gently. But it’s how you feel in yourself really and go for the path that suits you. 😊

I'd also start back from the beginning to slowly ease back into it but if you find it a breeze, you could do 1 run from each week until you're back to where you were. It probably depends on where your fitness level was before you had to stop. Listen to your body and do what feels right.

Welcome back and glad everything is ok for you to run again 👍🏼Start with w1r1 and see how you go, you can always fast forward if needs be.

Yep, I'm with CDA1 SaskAlliecat Nictwit start at W1R1, do the first couple of weeks and if it's feeling good, then try a couple from each week until you get back to Week 5. Would definitely not go straight to Week 5 given what run 3 is... :) Good luck!

Really really good news that you've been given the all clear to run again, that's fantastic.

If it was me I would probably try week 1, I suspect you could probably skip to weeks 3 or 4, but I reckon starting at week 1 is the best, because then if you find you can skip a week or 3, that will be a really positive thing, whereas starting at week 5 and having to go backwards might feel a bit discouraging.

The main thing is you can run again, which is just great for your mind and body!

All the best, Neil
