Should be completing Week 9 this week but as it's half term I've decided instead to run with my 13 year old son. Left to his own devices he would spend every waking minute sitting indoors playing GTA, Fifa or watching Youtube!
I've been doing Parkrun for the last 3 weeks and think my constant going on about it have finally ground him down. He's got his barcode and is willing to have a go! He's asthmatic and running for anything more than a minute makes him wheezy at the moment so this morning we tried out running for one minute, walking for 2. It worked really well and we got round the 5k at a pace he felt comfortable with. He actually manged to run for nearly 3 mins at the end with the finish line in sight. I'm hoping as his confidence grows we will be able to increase the running and decrease the walking.
We'll have another practise later in the week then really looking forward to running with him on Saturday

Means I'll Graduate a bit later than planned but it'll be worth it. His step-mum has been a keen runner for years (she's been known to do marathons!) so I'm hoping he'll be able to practise with her too x
That's what we're hoping. He had his first attack when he was very little (about 10 months old - although they don't call it asthma at that age) and it has improved as he's got older. It's a very scary thing to see a small child struggling to breathe. He does play football but as he's a goalkeeper so the wheeze doesn't really kick in. The structure of this programme has given me some ideas for improving his stamina and Parkrun provides a good opportunity for him to have a go at improving his ability to run x
That’s a great start for him. How lovely to do something like this together. Hope you and him really enjoy the week together . Do hope the running helps out long term . X
