Got with the programme

Hi just wanted to share my experience of couch to 5k. I persuaded my husband to try out couch to 5k with me at the beginning of December last year (now Feb). We're really pleased with our achievements part of which has been running (outdoors) throughout the dark nights, near freezing temps and 40 mile an hour winds! ... I think it helps to go running with a buddy as it has kept me going when I may otherwise have looked for excuses. There have been many aside from the weather - Christmas, travel ... but we kept our running shoes to hand through out. We didn't want to let Laura down and she kept our head 'in the right place' and this is the couch to 5k secret to success I think :) it's a really great programme ... I was over weight and my fitness level was low (I'm a commuter with a desk job) so it has not been a walk in the park but once I realised each week that the week ahead was 'doable' I just kept my sights on that and put my trust in 'the programme' and there was always the possibility there of repeating a week if I lost the faith :) ... We didn't need to however so I would say it is a well paced plan with the right level of encouragement. Thanks to the NHS for developing the app! I feel so much better for finding a way to include much needed exercise into my life!

That sounds brilliant Jac. I found the programme worked really well for me too and I was surprised how quickly you get used to running. You also get hooked on it. The worst of the bad weather is past now, so you two can look forward to some more enjoyable runs ahead. I think we're all ready for spring

Hi Jac, I started c25k with my husband too last April, so we had lovely, pleasant light evenings to run in. Hats off to you both for taking the challange and sticking with it when starting in the winter...

Does your hubby run at the same pace as you though? Mine goes quite a bit faster than me.

Enjoy your running, spring is just around the corner.🏃🏃 :)
