I have only just recently completed week 7 and found the latter part of the run tough but i think it was largely me down to running too fast at the start. So the advice i received is apt here slow down have fun

I think you will find that many individuals found every single minute of every single run hard.

Try easing back your pace. The longer runs need to be carefully paced and the psychological crutch of the walking interval has been removed, so almost inevitably you need to go a tad slower.

Well done for pushing through when it was tough. Try to find a distraction from thinking about the running. I always used to give a running commentary to myself about everything I could see, (still do sometimes) and the time will pass so much quicker.

A new route can sometimes help too.

Yeah I think thats it..its all running and no walking

Yes I had some tough ones. Lowering the pace should help. There’s one in you that will get you to week 9 and beyond for sure.

All my runs hurt . They hurt in week 1 , they hurt in week 4, they hurt in week 7 they hurt now in week 9. I just kinda run along , and when it starts to hurt -just kinda grudgingly accept it’s company is going to be there - much like council tax and dog walkers who don’t pick up their pets pooh-all the time knowing that in the previous run i carried their unwelcome company on the previous runs so I know I can do it again. It makes the end of the run when you shrug them off feel better.

To be clear, i Don’t know how to shrug of council tax or unwelcome dog pooh , I was talking about the hurt bit 👍🏻💪🏻

Yes! I've just finished Week 7 as well and the last 10 minutes was tough - especially on Run 3. But we did it! 😀

Yes it is pleasing, and in my case I'm still gobsmacked to have got this far! Bit worried about my W8R1 which is planned for tomorrow morning - it's snowing here and freezing fast, so I may have to postpone it - don't want to get injured! 😀

Yep snowing here too...keeps on coming back..nope you dont want to be slipping on ice..unless you try the gym as an alternative.. :)

I agree with olderthandirt. All my runs hurt too. Some hurt more than others but I push past the little aches and pains and carry on. I’ve just started week 8 and week 7 was very hard for me

Well done on getting to week 8. Yep you are right each run is different and sometimes it depends on what kind of day you have had

I am at exactly the same stage as you, completing W7R1 last night. I also struggled with the distance and kept waiting for Jo to give me a time check, even though I knew exactly how much further I had to go as I always run the same route. For me, it’s definitely a case of mind over matter. I know that I’ve run for 25 minutes before and therefore I can do it again. I find every run a challenge but definitely one worth doing, as the physical and mental benefits far outweigh the effort it takes. Keep reminding yourself how far you’ve come and that only a few short weeks ago you probably couldn’t run at all. I certainly couldn’t and am astonished that I’m still going, but really pleased that I am! You have done so well to get this far, so keep going and believe in yourself. 👏😃

Wow well done on your achievement aswell. Each run is different and yes if we think where we have got so far it does motivate you to carry on...sometimes running on the treadmill I keep looking at the time so I think I need to stop doing that as it makes me think oh got a lot to do..

Well done for persevering. I have to confess that because I run so slowly I don’t find the running hard anymore, except for the first 5-6 minutes - when I think “Why the hell am I doing this?!” So maybe try slowing down, as others have suggested.

Me too Sweet_givenchy, but mostly because on Wk7 R3 yesterday i pinged my calf muscle right at the end. Gutted, I don't know what to do now because I'm worried more running will make it worse. Anyway, well done on completing Wk 7, might have been hard but you did it!
