Finding it harder and harder to keep going with C25K.
I made the choice to do this as surprise for my family so i always knew that fitting in the weekly runs would be tough. The allowing 'me' time is slipping which i wonder is why i feel like im slipping. I need to reach back to the early weeks where i planned in my time and get myself back out there as these runs are only getting harder and without motivation i know i wont complete this. I am feeling as though my runs are not quick enough, i feel i am still light jogging as Michael says when i should be running and that 5k in 30 mins seems a further goal than just completing the 5k.
Maybe all the weather disruption to everyone's schedules has just sent me off track more than i thought it had and the extra rest days inbetween although have helped in some ways have also hindered.
Need to get my head back in the game

week 6 is the hardest one, and most people find it hard! But you managed run 3 of week 5 and that is a massive accomplishment! It shows you can run/jog for more than you thought possible, and means you can go even further!
It's hard going out, but it feels so good when you get back...remember that!
Also, don't worry about running 5k in 30 minutes, the vast majority of people completing this programme don't do 5k...but they do 30 minutes, and then it's just s matter of a few more runs to get to 5k!
Best of luck with it, you can do it and you will surprise everyone when you run 5k soon!
Thank you. I have just been reading alot of posts on here about how week 6 run 1 catches many people out which helps that people share the same struggles
You're very welcome... Reading the forum helps, we all share similar challenges, and with the help and support of others work to overcome them! All the best for your next runs!
I can’t tell you how proud I am for you that you’re on week 6!
Please don’t say you won’t finish the program, as you definitely will!
Yes the weather is putting us off. Yes it’s hard - but the important thing is, is that you’re doing it! Doesn’t matter if it’s slow, doesn’t matter how long it takes, doesn’t matter that you’ve slipped a bit, you’re doing it.
I’m writing this, sitting in the doctors, waiting for an appointment to ask what’s wrong with me. I bailed after week 1 and have been following your success, so you GO girl - I feel like you’re doing it for me too, as we started together - I’m proud of you x
Aaaaagh 😁. Hold on a minute. Stop. You are doing brilliantly. Look where you are. Week flipping SIX! Week 6 is the mother of all goddamp sessions! 😤. You’ve nailed it so give yourself some credit
So, when you started, did you expect to become a runner in six weeks? No! I thought not 🙂
This awesome programme works its magic so take the time and patience it needs to finish the job. At the end of nine weeks you will feel epic. My guess is that it will feel so amazingly fab you’ll want to keep going. There really is no end to it. You can literally keep going as plenty here will attest
If you look in the other communities, eg 10km and the half and marathon race support communities you will see loads there who have done so, me included
I’m now off to Lidl run sale to bag some bargains. I’ll be running there 😃👍🏃♀️
Maybe you need more rest between runs, now they are getting longer.
Something like 90% of graduates on the forum do not complete 5k in thirty minutes at graduation............that is not your target............just running for thirty minutes.
W6R1 is a tricky run, your longest to date, so don't lose heart. You have already improved the functioning of your heart and lungs as well as your legs.
Just go as slow as you need to, relax and enjoy your new found ability. Remove all pressure to perform.
If you ever get time with your responsibilities and busy life google The Real Chariots of Fire and the Eric Liddell story. It is about belief, hard work and what drove him and Harold Abrahams.
Truly humbling and inspiritational . You even see their running form, original footage, back in the 1920’s.👏👏
Enjoy you running without fear.👏👏
Yes get back to your previous planning , and do not stress ,tension not good.If possible try and give yourself a couple of options on your run day, so if you don’t make it out first one,no problem you will go on your next and when you are chilled and ready.
Do not beat yourself up, your best is your best and you are bringing that. You have demonstrated that.Believe it and believe in you.I do.🌟👏👏
As others have said, you are doing brilliantly, don't give up! I am on week 7 and found the first two runs in week 6 really, really (and another one for emphasis!), really hard ; then, magically, you get to run 3 and it's fabulous.
Like you, I felt my speed was slow but do you know what? You are still moving and you can work on your speed when you get to it - I have found that my speed has increased in the last two runs but I'm still probably very slow compared to others. The important thing is not to compare yourself to others.
Congrats on getting to week 6 and onwards and upwards
Get that 5K in 30 minutes completely out of your head. Slow down. In fact forget the 5K as well. The goal is to run for 30 minutes. Week 6 is hard bit you are doing just fine. Keep trusting the programme because it works. Trust a Loris.
Slow down. Then you can keep running - slowly! I started nearly 6 years ago now, and I am still very slow. You're right about planning the 'me' time, that's important. But completing W6 R1 is fab - well done! That's a toughy - and you did it Onward and upward - happy running
