Week 6/Run 1-difficult!

Good evening everyone!

This evening,I have completed Week 6/Run1.

It is the first time I have felt like it was a struggle and don't really know why!I found it harder than the 20 minute run at the end of Week 5 which just seems mad!!I found myself talking aloud to encourage myself....saying 'Come on,you really can do this- you are a runner!!!'

Any thoughts from anyone??!!

Lots of people find week 6 hard. You are not alone.

You really are a runner, but that's not to say that you won't have some runs which seem harder than others. But at least you got out there and you did it. I think after the euphoria of Week5 Run 3 it can be hard to find week 6 is challenging. But you can do this so hang in there, have a good rest day tomorrow, and see how the next run goes later in the week. :-)

Yes , most of us found Week 6 a struggle after the euphoria of finishing Week 5. If you read the Week 6 posts in the Blue pinned posts on the right, you will see lots of posts saying exactly the same . It is a tricky one as it is back to the intervals, but just keep doing what you have been doing already and you will get through it .

Keep going, youre doing great ! :-) xxx

Thankyou all for your encouragement.

I will rest tomorrow and then see how I go with the next run!

I guess I just felt abit despondent after the success of week 5/run3!

Week 6 is a bit of a monkey, lots find it so! But you have only one more run with walk breaks then you will be on to constant runs. Its funny isnt it that we all love the walk breaks to start with, then at week 6 find reverting back to a walk break feels a backward step. Its not. I am training for my first 10k and the programme i am following still gives me a planned minute walk intermittently.

So go for it, every kind of run is better than no run, and interval training will always be a good training technique.

Enjoy ! You are a runner😀🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻

Thankyou for your encouragement!

I am planning to do run 2 tomorrow and was just thinking that it is the last run with any walking in it!Not sure if I feel ready for that to be honest!!

Well done on training for a 10K-that's very impressive!!

The dreaded W6 day1 run - gets everybody - even those who have been warned beforehand! :) Why can't I run for 8 minutes when I have done a 20 minute run? Yep - I remember it well! Don't be put off - I think it is designed to make you realise that running for a longer period is more achievable than you thought. Goodbye day 1 - roll on day 2 - you can do it - you know you can and we know you can - your graduation badge is in sight - go for it!

Thanks for your reply!

I did indeed do run 2 on Friday and it went much better than run 1- much to my relief!,

Tomorrow will be run 3 which will be my first go at a 25 minute run,but I am actually looking forward to the challenge!,🏃🏃🏃

You will be fine - if it gets tough at all just slow down a bit rather than walking - you are more than able for it if you have got this far - that wee graduation badge awaits! :)
