Ooh ouch - so sorry! Might it have happened whether you jogged or not? Maybe go slower, take more rest? Hope the pain eases x

Hello Lynda, I have used a pain genie for a broken back and arthritis in fingers and its been amazing. Have a look at it. It repairs the body and gets rid of pain. I dont work for them by the way! but I bought one a year or so ago and its been life changing. They are expensive though X keep running when the pain eases. Im sure it will do you good in the long run X

Many thanks, i will google and see if affordable.

Where did you purchase yours from?

It really annoys me as i cant take anti inflammatories with my medications! Ive come home from work early and come to bed its so bad..but cant sleep...hence on here! X

Sorry about the pain its really hard work..X I bought my online. They are around 400 plus ( they were devised for the Russian space programme originally) pounds but get rid of pain instantly and also heal scars tissues etc. You can get a reduction if you claim disability benefit. I use it on my kids, cats me and partner so almost in use daily. I have a broken back, left sided scoliosis, have one leg longer than the other and have give had 2 children in late 30s 40s so my hips are a out. It has helped me tremendously with anything inflamatory and has cut pain after my runs.

Well, we are not medical experts... have you had the all clear to run from your doctors...

Some useful info here..

Thank you Oldfloss, this article reinforces the medical advice I've been given for joint pain caused by meds - so very reassuring, and helps us make the decision whether to do the scheduled run or take an extra rest day more confidently. Good luck with it Lynda, hope the pain eases soon.

You are right in thinking that losing weight would be the best thing you can do to help reduce your arthritis pain and flare ups - perhaps going slower is the key - set a really low very achievable target - it doesn't matter if it takes you twice or three times as long to get there - getting there is the thing! Slow and steady does win the race. Good luck!

Hello LyndaM,

I think this is a question for a doctor, isn't it? Not for us well-meaning amateurs. Take care of yourself and make sure you don't do any damage. Good luck.

Thanks, ive spoken to doctor today who has advised not to run/jog 😭

He says i am doing more damage than good, ive to stick with gentle exercise like walking (briskly is okay) and swimming so thats what im going to have to consider, thanks for taking time to respond.

Brisk walking is ace - I love it and just as good for you, ive heard I used to use the NHS Active 10 app to keep me on track for brisk walking before I started C25k. Still do sometimes.

I'm glad you've seen him and got the information you need. Walking is great too and is also brilliant for your health without doing any damage.

Good luck!

Hi Lynda,

I read your 2 posts.and your story.Very inspiring.🌟Despite all your responsibilities and challenges with your Mother’s health and your own, you have a huge determination to improve your own health and you have only experienced a relatively small relapse in your weight loss ambitions.I do not know the impact on you of your TIA.

Of course , follow your GP’s advise at present.I have to say, I would be wrapped up in cotton wool, and not pursuing my passions if I had done that. That is not said irresponsibly or disrespectfully.

As a non medic and much more senior to you, having experienced health problems,I would suggest to you if you have not consulted the facility already,a couple of perhaps reassuring avenues,

Go to discover on your account page , press discover, next page press communities or go to A-Z and put arthritis and you will find , Ireland ,NZ, cure ,and a 4th arthritis community, join them all. Also joint pain community, weight loss community, TIA , etc.

They will all help to reassure you of how real people are managing their conditions.

You have successfully reduced weight before, well done.👍 and you can do it again. In 2lb a week increments and your swimming and walking. ACTIVE 10 is fabulous.Join that community also👍It’s all here.

Consider that, your base 7 days per week workload/activity and just slow and steady build it up to around 7 hours per week.🤔

Do not dismiss in your mind yet, the C25k programme , of course Park it,

The reason I say that, everything else being equal, and your weight reduced as before, running efficiently is actually easier on the body than walking as demonstrated on Trust me I am a Doctor, recently.

I have an arthritic condition and pseudo gout in C1& C2 spine, got to keep reminding myself to keep my head up,which I manage by always being active, every day, only thing that works for me.

Also many years ago had an aneurysm that blinded me in one eye permanently and a TIA , 3 years ago that left me transiently blind for a few minutes.other stuff also.

Sorry about this but I am trying to encourage you , do not give up on your dreams now, you have time on your side to settle in your own mind what you can realise.

After all no one knows better about the piece of kit that we have been blessed with ,than ourselves, and if you do your homework ,you can always seek a further GP consultation in the future ,when you are again fitter and better informed.

Meantime enjoy your walking and swimming.🌟

Hi , I have arthritis in my hip , and had a replacement 5 yrs ago , I was given the all clear as long as I stick to flat only no hills as thats when you put more strain on joints
