Well I was ooohing and aaaaaaring over whether to do my run yesterday, Yes it had stopped snowing but there was that cold wind that I was not keen on. I texted the wife and as ever supporting she told me to go for it. To be honest I was not looking for an excuse not to run as I feel that if I go down that path once it will be easy to do it again. So i braved the beast and drove to the Memorial Park and sat in the car for a few mins watching the world go by. I stepped out and all I could see was one person walking the dog. A runners dream and it was. I felt really good doing that first 8 minutes run. However what I have now found that I am now running further and yesterdy I got to run up an incline towards the end of the 8 minute run and boy that was tough as I started to say "come on " repeatedly. That 5 minute wlak could not come quick enough, As Laura says recovery time is now getting quicker and it was not long before the final 8 minutes. Yes my time per mile had reduced but what was good was that it improved in the laqst 8 minute run and did not get any worse. I felt very proud going out to run in "The Beast" and it was one of the best runs as I only saw 5 dog walkers, no other runners. As i said earlier a runers dream. I am sort of excited about completing week 5 on Saturday but have a little dread over a 20 min run. Now is the time to nail the slow and steady pace
Week 5 Run 2: Well I was ooohing and aaaaaaring... - Couch to 5K
Week 5 Run 2
Great post bertiesugar! Sounds like you have got a handle on Week 5 too😊, a perfect Run 2 and you are right about R3 nice and slow and steady to start...Don't worry YOU ARE READY🏃
Think positive.😊x
As every one says just take it nice and easy. Don’t worry about distance just put one foot in front of the other and the 20 min run is yours 🏃🏻🏃🏻
I did week 5 run 3 yesterday and I'm still grinning now. If you're sort of excited about it now you'll do great on Saturday.
Well done! It’s vile out! The wind is evil! It’s whipping powdery snow up. Shudder
That's great, glad you enjoyed yourself so much. 😄
No need to dread the next one at all, it's more about convincing your brain that you can do it-your legs are ready! So yes, nail that snail pace, go gently and relaxed - you will be fine. 😃
Delight and not dread... anticipation and not apprehension... as Bluebirdrunner says.. you are totally ready for the next run...
Slow and steady is the way... have faith in you and trust the programme.
Make sure you stay safe out there
You clearly have it sorted - you’ll do run 3 I am certain. The nailing of slow and steady is the key to success and it sounds like you unlocked that door a little while ago.
