I got a free pair of these when I ran a race. I love them
I use Karrimor ones much of the time in winter as they’re fluffy and thick
I have some lovely More Mile ones which were a free gift with something or other
For races I have some marathon socks from sports direct
Injinji toe socks. I used to get terrible issues with blisters and bleeding toes and losing toe nails on long runs and since switching to Injinji all of that has been a thing of the past.
I wear thick knee length woollen socks like a 1950s footballer. I used to get terrible calf strains but never do now. I think keeping your muscles warm (and stretching)first is essential.
I've got a pair of Hillys too but my ankles get cold on cooler days so I also use my Madison Alpine MTB socks which are super supportive and longer to keep me warmer.
I’ve got a fairly random assortment - cheap Karrimor ones from sports direct, nicer Karrimor ones, *really* cheap Everlast ones, some from Lidl, and some which I’ve bought from Amazon! I tend to like the slightly longer ankle ones in cold weather, and the dinky tiny trainer liners in summer. Other than that, I don’t think I have any preference. By the time I’m running, I’m not thinking about my socks - which presumably means they’re fine
