I bought cheap Decathlon Kalenji ones. No problems so far 🤞. My son thinks I'm a cheapskate and swears by Hilly.

I've got Kalenji everything apart from the trainers 😁

I have some lovely expensive leggings, but I keep going back and my trusty black (cheap) Kalenji ones. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I live in the south west and can only get to a Decathlon when I visit my son in Manchester.

Ha! I've got Kalenji trainers! 😂

I love me a long sock for long runs; Karrimor do lovely soft ones

For shorter runs, lidl running trainer socks, or Hilly or Karrimor grippy

I have a variety of Injini toe socks too but those are not everyone's choice

I use ALDI running socks 👍 and use compression sleeves because of problem with my calf 😂 takes me a hour to get ready to run and run for 35 minutes lol 😂

I love my Injini socks. Haven’t had one blister since I’ve been wearing them, not even after HM distance. Walked down town in ordinary bamboo socks last week and rubbed two blisters. Injinji are worth the expense for me.

They're great for some things. My right foot likes them but my left is not so keen...

I used to get lots of blisters and got Yuedge antiblister socks from Amazon and haven’t had a blister since

I brought the sport direct brand 2 for £9 and had no problems

When I first started this malarkey I just used to wear generic 'sports socks' and didn't really have any problems. As I've got more into it, I've been buying more dedicated clothing so that I've got a sort of uniform that I only wear for running. I was lucky when I first made that decision because Aldi special buys that week included running gloves, a running hat and running socks, and so far it's the Aldi socks that I wear. I have however already replaced the hat & gloves (because I lost them) with ones I bought mail-order from Decathlon (look what's happening to me!) and when it's time for replacing my running socks I will no-doubt be buying those from a proper sports shop too.

Oh dear I'm only up to w1 r2 of c25k but I didn't even know running socks were a thing! 😳

Could Stop you having blisters 🤔

Ooh, don't worry, there's a whole new world of specialist stuff you'll start to feel that you can't go out of the house without! Only some of it, and so far I'd say that's proper socks and shoes is essential, the other stuff is just 'nice'.

in reply toAlast

Thanks Alast, I feel a tad overwhelmed just thinking about shoes tbh 😀

Speedy60 profile image

They're not a thing unless the ones you're wearing are causing you grief. Beware the financial black hole that is running paraphernalia! Only specialist shoes are essential, and then only in week 4 or 5.

Thanks Speedy! 😊

Compression socks from Hilly - very soothing after a run when legs are tired. And I too like toe socks from Injinji for actual runs. 😄 I have summer ones & longer, thicker winter/trail ones. When you find socks that suit your feet, it’s lovely. I call the quest “research”, not “shopping”. 🤣🤣

Dexy5 profile image

Yes, and the longer you run, the more ‘research’ is required. You find that one running drawer is not enough! 🤣🤣

So true. Such wisdom. 🤔😄

I've just had a message from Amazon telling me my Icebreaker base layer is being delivered today. I did that piece of research in bed. 🤣

Decathlon Kalenji since I started running in 2014. Along with the OCD of always having to put the left one on first :D

I buy MoreMile. Have extra support where needed even an R and L on toes to stop confusion !

I like the sound of Runderwear though might try them too . Happy running

My favourites are Hilly, mono skin socklets. They are a snug fit and just don't budge, they are quite thin so a better fit in my trainers.

A bit expensive, but they just keep going!
