I am by no means an expert, just got to week 8. However I find the sports socks you get in Aldi and Lidl really comfy. Fit well, don't move around and feet don't ache.

More Miles for me... taken me through every single run, for over three and a half years and ne'er a blister in sight:)

They are the ones that are selling on amazon a lot of people say they shrink in the wash is that right? The thing with peoples reviews you get lots of good and lots of bad so are they being picky 😉 as they sound good from what you have told me 3 and a half years is good if you’re saying that they must be very good and thank you as I don’t want to spend a fortune when I don’t need to we’re do you buy yours from?

Mine have never shrunk yet... I don't tumble dry them though.... They got me to the finish of my first HM...I love them!!! Get mine from Amazon :) Multi packs... !

Yes, I concur with Oldfloss ! Never tumble dry any sports socks. It seems that (whatever they are made from) sports socks are especially prone to shrinkage. I swear by More Mile socks too. Biggest selection-factor for me is to find socks in a range of colours (not white or black) so that they are easy to find in the airing cupboard at 6am in the morning.

Very true my trainers were not cheap I saved £24 of from Runner’s need and I had a gait analysis neutral shoe so I got Brooks Ghost 11 £96 and they automatically did a price match and got me a deal then I’ve bought 4 tee shirts with moisture transport system that keeps you dry. Running pants. running shorts now running socks. running pouch for phone. I need running Bluetooth headphones the list keeps on going lol 😂

Like you I knew nothing about running socks. A friend simply said get some merino wool ones so I did. Far from cheap at over £18 (mind you I bought them in New Zealand) but oh so comfy and remarkably they are just odour free. I wouldn't swap them now.

Kevtrev profile image
Kevtrev in reply toAmblerman

How many pairs did you get for £18 ?

Amblerman profile image
AmblermanGraduate in reply toKevtrev

One pair only. They were Icebreaker brand so can be available in the UK I think. It's a lot for a pair of socks but they can be worn a lot between washes so I only need one pair.

Just the one pair.Honest

Hi kevtrev I’ve just bought 6 pairs of cambivo socks from amazon £13.99. They nothing fancy either grey or black. I’ve worn them the last 2 runs and they’ve felt lovely and cushioned and haven’t moved in my trainers. Im no expert so don’t know if they’re a good brand but the reviews were all good and based on my experience I’d buy them again. Hope this helps 😊

Mine are Decathlon own brand Kalenji, they have a trainer shape. I mean they are ankle socks but they come up enough to cover the back of the trainer and the front tongue so nothing rubs. They have the "tight around the foot bit" too. Not especially padded, but not paper thin either.
