All through this week I’ve been really looking forward to today. Nothing in the diary, so I booked a (long overdue) haircut for first thing. That went well, so I figured I’d go get my glasses sorted out. They could be ready in an hour, fantastic. Got home, wanted a cup of tea and realised we had no milk, so out again to pop to the shop a couple of minutes away. After lunch, I realised hat at no point this week has I sorted out some Euros for DD to tak on her school trip - leaving tomorrow morning, so walk back up into town. And while I was there she rang to ask if we could go out to the CD shop we recently found out about.
So by the time I got in at around 4.30, I’d done 12.5k steps and was feeling tired. Despite this, I was desperate to go for my run in daylight, got changed and headed out again. At this point I started to realise just how tired my legs were and what a bad plan this was suddenly feeling! But I’d started so I’d finish, as the saying (almost) goes...
Even the warm up walk felt slow, and the first three minutes lasted a very uncomfortable forever. But I got through them, and the short walk, and all too soon was running again for the first five minutes. Still tough going, still lasted forever - an even longer eternity! - but again sheer stubbornness got me through. Oh, the bliss of slowing for that 2 1/2 minute walk!
Next run - plodding on steadily, Oldfloss reminding me ‘slow and steady’, ‘better any run than no run’ and other such helpful gems, and then time for the last walk segment.
And then the last five minute run loomed up. To add to my discomfort, I’d just about caught up with a couple of people I knew, who would have chatted with for a couple of minutes in any other situation, but Laura told me it was time to run so I awkwardly said I had to go and jogged off! Oh well, I’m sure they understood - they’re very nice people, and although it was tempting to try and look graceful and speedy I kept to my slow plod, which fortunately is quicker than the very gentle stroll that they were doing! 😁
Eventually Laura clearly felt I’d suffered enough and told me time was up. Yes, that’s another full 16 mins session ticked off! Only one more W4 run to go! 😳
And to make it a really good afternoon, DD1 has decided to take herself off for a run/walk too, got home a couple of minutes after me and was chuffed to discover she’d covered over 4 miles in her hour or so 😊
