Hi all I started this last year and due to Dec/Xmas/new year etc.... I haven’t carried on as not motivated at the moment. I got to week 7 so proud of myself but I need to get my arse of the sofa, but don’t know what week to restart on,do I go right back to the beginning as it’s been nearly 3 months since my last run or try week 3 and see how I go. Please can anyone give me advise and kick my arse xxxx

I would worry that if you don't manage week 3 this will feed into your lack of motivation. 3 months off is quite a long time off. What's in a couple of weeks....

Do you remember how proud you felt, how great running is, how your body changed within that time. Can you imagine the health benefits you will be storing up?....

Go on- why wouldn't you? Oh and commit to a run on here and come back with a report later!

I always go back at least a week more than I think (hope!) I need to - best case scenario is it goes really well, and if it’s tough then at least I didn’t try the harder week! ;)

If it were me, I’d be starting back at week 1 - if it’s really easy, then go to week 2 for your next run. The main thing though is to stop thinking about it - just go and get started! ;)

See what you can manage.

Only you can tell.

Here is a great big friendly kick up the arse. Just go out and see how far you can run time wise. Do the usual 5 minute warm up walk. And during the 5 minutes think about what it was that started you on this journey a little while ago.

Winter is a crap time of year to do these things, but if you can find the grit, it’s just getting easier as the weather warms and days lengthen. I reckon if you aim to do something like Week 2, that may give you a good benchmark on what you’ve lost in fitness since then. It may not be anywhere near as bad as you imagine. Also you’re more experienced this time around, so you know how to avoid the usual pitfalls on the programme.

My Norah Batty’s (long leggings) are all ready out on the chest of drawers for tomorrow - why not join them in a little no pressure run?

Good luck and I hope you have a good one when you go out next - and I think you will - otherwise you could have kept schtum, but you didn’t, you came on and asked for the kick!

I think one of our venerable members, (Sadie-runs, is it you?), after a stay off the tracks, has tested her own condition by running one run of each week of the programme. Why not try to start with R1W1 and then for your second run R1W2, and R1W3? It would help you get back into the rut and see if you feel comfortable with the runs. Then you could decide to carry on with the longer runs until you reach W7 and pick up where you'd left.
