Of course I need trail shoes!

I've just splashed out on expensive road shoes yesterday but love running through the mud. I cannot justify buying another pair of shoes in week 3 ( maybe at the end) so do I just run in my expensive road ones. The shop lady said they would last a year before I needed to replace them so do I just run them in and use them? xx

I run mostly off road and in muddy conditions and have never owned a pair of trail shoes in my 4+ years of running, nor have I taken a bad tumble, thank goodness. Although I must admit my last few runs have been very slippery and I've been thinking maybe now''s the time as it's been a very wet winter.

Trail shoes will give you more grip and stop you from slipping but it depends on the conditions and your budget. If you can't justify buying another pair then I would say don't.

You only need trail shoes if your road shoes do not give enough grip.

Read the article on shoes in the FAQs which you will find in the pinned posts.
