I have entered a Challenge online to do 5K everyday for the month of January. 5K can be done by running, Jogging or Walking. I plan to run 5K every second day and walk 5K every alternate day. The challenge is for a Charity for Mental Health. On the 28th of January everyone doing the challenge meets up in the Midlands in Ireland to run, jog or walk 5K, donate €30 and receive a T-Shirt.
15K done since Monday. I lost a lot of fitness over the past 6 weeks. This will be good training to get some fitness back again. I can’t run a full 5K without a walking break at the moment, so slowly increasing the running in between walking breaks each time. Just 2 walking breaks this evening.

That is amazing!! I'm just re-starting the Couchto5K plan after a decade... my teenage daughter wants to join me so we are going to start tomorrow morning ( nice and early). O, I mean today morning in about four hrs... I hope to get to where you are in two weeks!!
Thank you so much. I could not believe how much fitness I lost since the start of November. I could comfortably run 5K then. At least I have a base. It should not take too long to get back there again. Enjoy restarting your running.
Hi Damien, I’m doing a similar challenge here with my running group for MIND, although we just have to pledge to exercise every day, I’m aiming to try for 30 mins. Your final real run sounds like a great event.
Sounds like a cracking idea. I think post-graduation we need to find plans like this to keep us motivated. It is so easy to get side-tracked without a goal, once c25k is finished.
This year (my 40th) I already have big plans in place, kicking off with a HM in March which has meant some serious running, but next year a plan like this would suit me perfectly, as I need to have some focus over the winter months. Working full-time and running before work I need a pull to get me up in the cold, dark and often wet.
Cheers. I was away a lot with work in November, then December was a busy month too. Once I’d taken a 2 week break from running it was too easy to just say, I’ll get back into it in the New Year. I needed this challenge to kick me up the ass and get me out there in the wind and rain.
Walking is great. I do it all the time! Get into the habit of being a walker everywhere. I use shanks pony to do my shopping, run errands, walk the dog etc. It gets you very fit and it’s free. It will help your running too. It has the advantage too of getting to know every square inch of your area so you know every footpath and trail. I take the dog out when reccying for new runs 🙂👍
