I’m still going, still doing 5K everyday for the month of January. Walking one day, running another. My fitness is getting better. I’m walking 5K in 45 minutes and running it in 35 minutes. I just missed one day, last Tuesday due to snow and ice. But I’m making it back, last night I walked 7.5K. Will repeat it one more time this week.
On Sunday at 12:00 I will be taking part in a 5K run with over 1,000 people who are also doing the challenge. There will be 4 groups departing the start line at different times. Groups have to keep pace for a 25 min, 30 min, 35 min and 40 min 5K. The plan is to have all 4 groups converge for the last 200-300 meters so as everyone crosses the line together. I think that is a great idea. It’s not a race, it’s a run.
Looking forward to it and looking forward to my T-Shirt and medal. One more week before I complete the challenge.

Very impressive Damien. What's the challenge for February?
Well done Damien! I'm also at Day 23 for RED January for Mind, and so far have done some form of exercise everyday, although running has been curtailed for the last few days due to a bizarre running injury (I've pulled a muscle in my back getting into my sports bra - doh!).
Keep up the good work (and your run with a coordinated finish really does sound like fun!)
Hope your back gets better soon. I had sore calf muscles just over a week ago. I stopped running for a few days and walked instead. I pulled a muscle in my back in December taking the Christmas decorations out of the attic. Ouch. I you feel better soon.
Well done Damien! Sounds like a fun challenge you've got there. Your February challenge sounds truly challenging. I have not been able to do even close to a sub 30 since I moved onto the longer distances. Not sure if they are tied together - Maybe something to focus on after May... Best of luck!
Cheers Decker. My Parkrun PB is 31:04 and my 5K PB in a race is 29:56 . My plan for this summer is to get to 28 minutes for 5K. It’s going to take a lot of hard work as I’m not fast. Hope all is well with you.
Those are good times and goals Damien. I’m sure you will crack them. My best recorded time was 30:30 for a 5k race early on after graduating. I tried a couple of days ago to match it and the best I could do was 34:07 🙂 maybe its a tradeoff for all the slower distance? Or maybe I’m just slowing down generally. Still work to do there.
